It's football season!

Last weekend my husband talked me and my aunt into going to my first football game.  My uncle went too, but he doesn't have to be talked into it.
I have never been a fan of football, but some how V talked me into going.  I think he mostly wanted me to go so I could see the seats we missed out on this year when I told him no to getting season tickets. I have to say, after going, we DID miss out.  These were great seats.
We had a blast. And like everything else in life, being there in person was amazing. I might actually be a football fan, as long as I get to go to the live game, get those seats, my aunt and uncle go, and it's warm! If it's below 70,it's a no go for this girl.

Counter upgrade.

We knew from the start that we wanted to change out our counters.  The builders  only had two options; laminate or granite. The laminate counters came in hundreds of colors but they all reminded us of apartments and the granite came in three colors black, brown, or a mix; we didn't like any.  So we picked a builders basic laminate that we could live with until we could change it out.

When we finally decided to upgrade we got a sorta renovators block.  We knew we wanted white-ish, but had no idea how many options there where.
In the end, we decided we really liked this;

Mostly white with some gray.
Darker than planned but we also think we want white subway tile... Because who doesn't these days. So the darker counter will give our small kitchen some depth.
Ignore the food all over the counters, we made sloppy joes soon as we could use the kitchen again.

Up next we hope to do the backsplash. Soon as we work up the courage to do it. It's a bit of a diy were afraid of.

Birthdays, bad days, and frogs

With the month coming to an end I can look back and say it sure didn't turn out how I expected it too.

So much to catch up on, let's start with BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS!

Ready for dinner
The lovely husband took me out to my favorite restaurant for lunch.  It's a rare treat that were both able to go to a sit down restaurant, just the two of us.  A had water day at school so we didn't want to pick him up for a boring restaurant when he could be playing in sprinklers with his buddies.

We did surprise him with a trip to the movies after school though.  We had tried the weekend before but the tickets were sold out, twice!  People seriously love The secret life of pets.
Surprise movie night

This past week we also discovered we have a few frogs living in our window wells.  By a few I mean about 20.  Yep, they love it there so much they just keep brining their friends. I researched this problem obsessively all last week and I learned;
A. It's a very common issue.
B. We're lucky it's just frogs.  Some people get snakes, rodents, or lizards.
C. No one really says what to do about it. I could get the clear window well covers but at $500 a piece I'm not sure I want to throw a $1,000 at a problem for something as small as frogs.  I could make it nice down there and keep them as "pets", but then I read snakes like to come snack on them.  I'd rather not have snakes.
D. You can't simply remove them... They come back. With more friends.

How many frogs can you fit in one window well?

My sister came this weekend with her kids. We decided to spend the day at the zoo.  I forgot to take any photos but did get a shot as you enter the zoo.  It's a very pretty riverside drive.

Lastly, we have had a few updates to the house I hope to post soon.  We redid our counters. They look beautiful, but as of this morning, I had a small flood in the kitchen because the plumber didn't hooks the dish washer back up correctly. Uhg.

It was time. My old car was 11 years old! It had some many problems that had all just popped up in the last year. You can actually see it in the back ground. It’s the white Hoopdie with black rims. Funny story- The Black rims are because V drove it, curb checked it, and busted the rim.  One Cadillac rim cost more than 4 new tires and 4 new rims, so he bought me new ones, BLACK ONES! Neighbors loved to joke that I looked like a drug dealer rolling through the neighborhood. Personally, I think I looked more like I was borrowing Zac Bagans car.

Comm’on you know he would drive that, probably with a studded out personal plate.
